Pakistan Business Council Sharjah forges stronger business partnership with Indonesia
Diplomatic meeting in Ajman paves way for deeper commercial collaboration
AJMAN – Pakistan Business Council Sharjah (PBCS) has taken a fresh step towards strengthening commercial relations between Pakistan and Indonesia following a high-level meeting with senior Indonesian diplomats in Ajman.
The discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade, encouraging investment and creating stronger links between the private sectors of both countries.
The meeting also laid the groundwork for future institutional cooperation through a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a joint business networking event.
High-level talks
The PBCS delegation met Judha Nugraha, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the UAE, and Denny Lesmana, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Dubai, during a meeting held at a local restaurant in Ajman.
Although organised at short notice, the gathering reflected the commitment of both sides to deepen economic engagement and strengthen long-term partnerships between the Pakistani and Indonesian business communities.
The PBCS delegation was led by Senior Vice Chairman Syed Saleem Akhtar and included Vice Chairman Amir Hassan. Welcoming the Indonesian delegation, Hassan outlined the council's role in promoting trade, investment, business networking and commercial development among the Pakistani business community in the UAE. He also highlighted the organisation's achievements and ongoing initiatives to support entrepreneurs and investors.
Future plans
Discussions centred on identifying new opportunities for bilateral trade, investment and institutional collaboration.
Both sides agreed to organise a joint business networking session in Sharjah in the near future, bringing together members of Pakistan Business Council Sharjah and representatives of the Indonesian business community.
The two parties also agreed in principle to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that would establish a formal framework for cooperation. The proposed agreement aims to facilitate business-to-business engagement, encourage investment and create fresh commercial opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors from both countries.
Speaking during the meeting, Syed Saleem Akhtar said Pakistan and Indonesia shared longstanding brotherly relations founded on mutual respect and common values.
Shared vision
Akhtar said the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah remained committed to serving as a bridge between the business communities of the two friendly nations. He added that the meeting marked the beginning of a stronger partnership that would generate new opportunities in trade, investment and business networking, while expressing confidence that the discussions would be translated into tangible outcomes for council members.
Ambassador Judha Nugraha praised the efforts of the Pakistan Business Council Sharjah, saying Indonesia highly valued its friendship with Pakistan and welcomed closer engagement between the private sectors of both countries.
He said Indonesia appreciated the council's proactive initiatives and looked forward to working together to promote stronger trade, investment and business linkages. The ambassador added that the proposed joint business forum and MoU would provide an effective platform for developing new partnerships and expanding economic cooperation.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining regular engagement and advancing practical business initiatives aimed at strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and Indonesia through sustained institutional collaboration.
